Sam and Kristen Flatin founded Little Cedar Land Works, LLC. in 2022. However, the dream of providing quality excavating and clearing services has been a long-time dream of Sam’s. Sam first began operating tractors and equipment on his neighbor’s farm 26 years ago and was hooked. A welder, welding inspector and heavy equipment operator by trade, Sam found joy and fulfillment in learning to operate new equipment on job sites across the Midwest. A Navy Veteran, Kristen’s background includes 15 years of operations and environmental, health and safety experience within a variety of industries. Kristen earned her bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Kansas in 2008 and her MBA from UMKC in 2020. She obtained extensive project management experience while working as a Principal Consultant and Project Manager for a Global risk mitigation firm.

The proud parents of two teenagers and our company mascot Piper aka Whitey, Kristen and Sam grew up and later settled in the Melvern, KS area together. When they acquired equipment to develop their land for a shop and farm use, they made the decision to help others do the same and established Little Cedar Land Works, LLC..
